M104 E320 fuel adjustment

I’m reluctant to put E10 petrol into my little used 94 E320, which leaves 97/98 grade E5 fuel as my only choice, and I only ever use 95 octane.

I once used 98 Ron with very poor running issues and the main dealer said this was the cause of the problem as they were designed to run on 95, so I’ve never used it since or had further problems.

My question: is there an adjustment or setting to be made to tune the car to use the higher fuel grade? I think I’ve read somewhere that there is.

There is a trimmer plug on the inner wing which can be pulled out and rotated to allow different fuel grades.

Thanks for posting this. I think mine is HFM controlled rather than EZL, so would the HFM have a similar set up?

Just take a look if you have the M104 it will have Hot Film system like you say but it still might also have the trimming plug .MDS do you have a workshop manual for your car .

I don't, and I don't have the car to hand at the moment, hence the question. I have to say a workshop manual would be wasted on me, but I'll have a good look when I get to the car.
