Hi all,
I know this has probably been discussed already but I am stumped at my issue. I've noticed my C320 (m112), has been suffering from an oil leak (again ). The first clue now thinking of it, was small puffs of white smoke coming through the air conditioning vents, creating the smell of burning oil. This however has only happened a few times so I hadn't thought anything of it until now, thought perhaps the active charcoal filters or air conditioning system was dirty. Though I've noticed new black marks on my driveway directly under where I park and upon checking the underneath of the car, the rear middle section of the bottom engine cover is moderately soaked with what seems to be motor oil. Placed a pan underneath and have had about 3 drops overnight so the leak isn't huge but definately a cause for concern as I don't want it to get worse.
I had the valve cover gaskets replaced about 3 months ago, as I was noticing a burning smell oil and small amounts of white smoke coming from under the hood. This was only if I didn't drive the car for 2+ weeks, apparently the oil was dripping onto the manifold and causing the smell and smoke as the car heats up. The issue was so insignificant I drove with it like that for ages as it never affected my oil levels, never had to top it up between services. I never noticed oil marks under the car, the bottom cover was never wet, no smoke or strong smells through the vents in cabin, which leads me to believe this is another issue and definately seems to be more towards the rear of the engine. I have only noticed this since I've had it serviced fairly recently, not sure if it could be that. There's also never been an instance where my mechanic has mentioned my car having an oil leak (usually very thorough and fully checks car over to let me know of any issues or work that needs doing in near future) or been picked up on any MOT, which further leads me to believe it has started after this recent service.
Can anyone share some light on what they think it could be, how a service could potentially cause an oil leak or if they've had a similar issue?
Thanks.
