M156 issues?

Hi Guys

Sorry if its been covered a million times, im off to look at a 2007 E63 AMG tomorrow, and i have stumbled across a few threads (all in the US) about issues on the M156 engine, head bolts, lifters etc

Do we have the same issues here in the UK? Or should i be safe?

Hi Danny,

Yes we would have the same issues here, as the AMG engine is the same throughout someone who built the engine in my car may also have built one that's in a car in California, and all the engine parts except the air boxes are identical.

On a brighter note there are 1000's of 63 engines out there and only a handful of problems, yes the problem exists and can be fixed with Weistec studs or the new version of head bolts, in the later 63 engines (2011 - I think).

All depends how you want to look at, odds are that if you bought one engine would not suffer a bolt fail, but it could.
