just to double check if the maf goes does that cause the gearbox to bang in the gear sometimes?i changed the gearbox oil not long ago..all the other symptoms goes point out like everyone elses....ie doesnt rev over 4000rpm ,doesnt want to kick down ,pauses between shifts etc etc

Symptons of a air mass but safe bet would be to have it plugged into the Star diagnostic machine.

Ken, IIRC it won't rev past 4000RPM unless you are driving?!? If it is in neutral/park etc, it will limit it.

I was chatting to a guy at Andy Gayles about bad gear changes, he said that is normally the clutch on the output shaft that needs replacement. Unfortunately it requires a full gearbox strip to do it.
