I'm not usually one to publicly complain about main dealers, but I'd practice caution with MB Leeds.
A few years ago, I owned a 204 C63, when the rocker gaskets went, I was told it was due to over heating and they needed replacing. I agreed to have the work done. 4 weeks later, I found oil on my garage floor, so took it back to MB, they said the same work needed doing again. I took it to a local garage and he said the gasket on one side was incorrectly fitted, MB refused this, so I paid to have the work done at an indie.

Fast forward a few years and I've had my 205 C63S in for a service. They stated it needed new rear tyres and rear rotors & pads. I authorised the tyres and decided to buy my own brake parts from eurocar parts. Once the car went back for the tyres fitting, the service desk were really pushy for me to have the brakes replaced. I told them I had my own parts and not to do the work, I also just had all wheels refurbished and one is now damaged after the tyre fitting, which MB deny was thier fault

I've just come back from my local garage after asking him to fit the brakes for me, he's told me there's 8mm left on the pads and the discs are in great condition.

So a cautionary word, if you deal with MB Leeds, please get a 2nd opinion on any work they say is needed, otherwise they'll have your pants down.

Why did you pay again for the cam cover? It was only 4 weeks later still covered by the 12 month warranty?

They told me that it was due to an over heating fault and nothing to do with the fitting of the gaskets, my mechanic said it was a fitting fault to which they disagreed. They said the over heating issue would need investigating further and I wasn't prepared to get fleeced again.
I have a service plan with MB but I'll be taking my car to a different dealer next time and they won't be doing any other work

I fell out with MB Leeds a long time ago when I wanted an ABS sensor for the W126 380SE.
I went there and could get little sense from the person on the spares counter.
"Someone will ring you back".
No one rang me back.
I rang them - Could get no sense.
"Someone will ring you back".
No one rang.
I went there in person.
Asked to speak to the spares manager.
After some scrolling thru screens .... the usual ........ I got this crazy answer.
"According to your VIN number, your car was not fitted with ABS when it was built".
I replied sarcastically: "Ah well - It must have been retrofitted".
So - I went to Euro Car Parts, who quickly came up with a part number for about £20.
They ordered it for me - I took it - It looked identical to the failed sensor.
I fitted it - No problem - It worked perfectly.

OK - That was about 20 years ago - Maybe they've improved since then.
...... and maybe not.

I use MB Huddersfield instead of Leeds for servicing as I have the Service Care plan. Whenever I tried to ring through to Leeds, a service advisor would never be available and I would be waiting ages for a call back.

I got my brakes and MOT done yesterday but used an Indy instead and the service was excellent. I ordered the parts myself from MB Grangemouth who gave me the 25% forum discount and the Indy was happy to fit them for me with his much lower labour rates compared to the dealer.

Check out Torque Technics in Bradford next time, he is a Mercedes specialist and can update the service history, he has a really nice and tidy workshop and his car park was rammed with lots of lovely Mercs and AMG's.

Thanks Fez7:
Not much changed in 20 years then !!

I do pretty-much all my own service work.
Anything that's beyond me, I've used Rodley Motors in Bradford for over 40 years.
Very competent and helpful guys.
Recommended.

Thanks for the recommendations. I'm not too far from Huddersfield or Bradford, so if anything needs doing I'll give them a call. I'll be taking my car to MB Huddersfield for its next service.

Main Dealers are universal, only the signwriting is different.
