I have been a subscribed and regular private customer user of the MB Parts Information System for many years. Suddenly I now longer have access to the system, nor can I renew the subscription. It would seem that Daimler has reserved the access to this programme to business customers.

"PRIVATE PERSONS
Parts Information

Please note that the purchase and extension of Parts Information access authorization for private persons is no longer available. Currently existing access authorizations for parts information will be retained until they expire".

I have mailed Daimler asking for an explanation but haven't heard back from them yet.

Anybody have a similar problem?
If so what are other available solutions to parts information?

Yes. They have stopped it a few months ago. Only registered garages can have access to parts information now.

I am guessing that it was used by unauthorised traders, helping them to sell MB parts outside of the authorized dealer network, in effect creating a 'grey' market that undercuts dealers' margins.

Ironic that Mercedes have actually created / economically legitimised such a "grey market" by overpriced margins on legitimate Mb dealer supplied parts.

True.

Just as the cigarettes and alcohol smuggling trade was created by HMRC levying duties on these products.

Find yourself a friendly MB independent workshop or most parts advisors that work in main dealers will be able to help with your request.

I gave up with MBs offering and have since bought thousands of € of parts by punching my VIN and using parts references given here:

No charges, no errors. Happy enough.

A reply dropped in the mail from MB yesterday:

"Thank you for your request.

The purchase and renewal of Parts Information for private individuals are no longer offered via the Service & Parts network portal.
If you as a private person are interested in Mercedes-Benz Parts, please contact your Mercedes-Benz dealer for trustful advice and purchase.

With best regards

Your product management service & spare parts network portal

Well guess that says it all.

Many thanks to all who have given me links to find parts. I used the Parts Info System just to find part no, so when I went to the dealer they could order the part(s) quickly.

What a load of bottom (the other word was censored).

Harrods offers free access to their catalogue so that you can easily buy stuff and spend loads of money. You can probably spend rather more money at Horrids.

Hey ho!

I gave up using it years ago, there was always a problem, some times in Spanish only.
Have not used it for around 10 years the BMW EPC was excellent.

I know, that is where tried to use it
Always a problem, how have factory parts book for 190B
Parts book do not give cross reference, what parts fit other cars.

EPC is available via the official Mercedes Benz Club

In line with the original post, I received correspondence back in the spring that made it clear Mercedes are very much trying to dissuade members from using it, to reduce the number of active sessions on the servers.

The premise was that if you still had a valid login that's been used recently (around 6 months) then you can get access, but if that token expired your account would be deleted and you'd go to the back of the queue. At that point it may be some time before you get access again, if at all.

I'm not sure I'll bother renewing my membership again after this year, as clearly it'll be dropped during the renewal process.

I think the way it works is they send you a warning email to state that you are about to have your account removed if you don't use it and then if you don't act, you are removed.

I simply log in to mine every 3 months or so and log out to keep it active.

That's correct, after 150 days. The question is whether that'll be enough in future, or whether we're all about to get booted.

With the 'right to repair' legislation gaining momentum worldwide - soon Apple (of all companies) will offer spare parts to fix many of there products (at a price of course) - How will MB be able to stop people demanding access to a spare parts list for their car ?
