We have recentley taken delivery of a new Vito Sport X V6 diesel fitted with Command but we were told that the disc was unavailable because all current discs are corrupt! After waiting a month and being told that the discs are on a first come first served basis! we finaly recieved one yesterday only to find the unit shuts down when the disc is inserted! Any idea what is going on?

You are being lied to by the dealer.

I deal in the units and the disks and the reason they state to you is plain wrong. I have never heard of or seen a corrupt genuine MB disk. What version does it have written on it?

You should be given a version 9 DVD for the vehicle by the dealer from new. No excuses no lies.

The shutting down is worrying. I suspect that the Comand unit may be faulty or simply need flashing with the latest firmware. It should already have the latest though! Perhaps they are trying to make you use an old disk:eek:

Tell the dealer that if he cant get them, he can buy you a proper upto date disk from www.comandonline.co.uk ;)

I have no DVD disk also. How do i find what version i have of the DVD APS?

Yours is a W204 isnt it?

Navigation is on the hard drive! Not sure how you find the version number on that.....yet....

I was also told it updates automatically... Sales porky pies, or is this something new? Cant find much detail online as yet but the book says it needs DVD updates

Well technically speaking all comand units update "automatically" if there is something new on the disc you insert...

I think he was trying to tell me "without disks" But if there was a glich in the hardrive and it was as easy as the last comand i had, i would update the system myself, rather than messing about with dealer.

Thanks for quick reply, thought it all sounded like b******s the corrupt disc was suppossed to have a problem with Sheffield? We said thats OK we dont go to Sheffield very often! Sorry MB say we cant release them! Anyway the disc we now have is B6 7823743 VERSION 8 so would this cause a problem?

Version 8 is not the latest but the one before. Its a good disk, I use it myself.

I would take the car back to the dealer and ask them to load the disk and show you it working.

Thanks again, will go jump on the dealer now
