Hi. Need to visit a stealership soon for a service. Has anyone had any dealings with MB Walton-on-Thames?

Ohhh yes lots.

Bought a few cars from them over the years and probably paid for their swish building with all the services I put their way in the past. Note the word past.

Because of where they are, 'servicing' some of the richest people in the country living in some of the most expensive real estate in the world, they charge accordingly. there was nothing wrong with the servicing or the service. Just the prices. Working it out I have handed them about £200,000 over the last ten years in car purchases and services!

Now that I pay out of my own pocket as opposed to the company pocket I dont use them any longer myself.

Don't go. Lets hope there flagship at Brookland's will be an improvement, i can't see them getting that wrong, can they??

Its Called 'JOKING MOTORS' isnt it?

I've got to be honest, I've only ever used them for parts, and most of the time they've been ok :)

The parts guys (and girl!) seem friendly enough and I've not had any terrible experiences there.

Maybe sales and servicing there is a totally different kettle of fish?

Thanks for the replies.... the next question is predictable!

Where would you recommend I go? I would like the servicing done at a main dealer, fairly reasonable prices, but mainly good/trustworthy work.

Preferably Middlesex/North Surrey areas
.

Hi Alfie,
Is it a one off dealership, or is it like the majority and simply just one of a number?

I ask this because if it is part of a group, then would their servicing prices all be similar? If that is the case it would pretty much be a waste of time going elsewhere!

You could always come for a nice week-end in Devon and have the car serviced as part of the week-end break!!

Good luck with your search PeeJay

Regards,
John

The parts staff are very competent; far more so than my local Volvo dealer. They insist on a VIN for starters (excuse pun).

On my last visit, I was more than a little surprised that they use casual, non-English speaking labour for washing the cars. These guys really were at the bottom of the pecking order, hidden in the wash bay with no uniforms. Frankly it is very comparable to the casual 'hand washes' set up at abandoned forecourts all over the country.

I guess that is indicative of the narrow margin between minimum wage and benefit entitlement.

Tim

I must agree, the parts Dept are very helpful and polite. The problem they have with the serviceing is they can't cope with the amount of Mercedes in the area, as i mentioned before let's hope it improves when they open Brooklands.

Found that Tony Purslow in Guildford is OK. Main dealer, generally helpful.

And not owned by MB, whose tied dealerships seem time and time again to sport more than a few staff who are miserable, demotivated or plain disinterested. Wonder if any of them were counted amongst the 128 DCUK staff who got the chop recently?

I'm warming to Tony Purslow in Guildford. Had problems with one 'team leader' when the battery failed on my SL and needed replacing under warranty, but couldn't fault them on a recent major service. Parts dept. are very helpful and have never asked for payment up front when ordering bits for me.
