If I bought one from Halfords and it turned out to be Crap, I could Return it! £200 paid to Mercedes Me could be difficult to get back!

Wouldn’t the regulations that apply to Hafords apply to MB?

I honestly don't know, is Mercedes Me from whom I would be buying the Dash Cam Functionality be easily convinced that the Dash Cam was not up to Standard!

Odd that the head unit is not updated over-the-air. If it supports the new dash cam app, I'd expect it supporting on line firmware updates too, not only maps updates.

Good Morning all I recently bought an S213 with MBUX and asked my local dealer to quote for supply and fix front and rear Merc dashcams as per the above link.
They quoted £1,300 saying it was a 5-hour job to install.
Anyhoo I opted for the one-off payment of £200 using the built-in cams. Very pleased with the results (see attached screenshot) so far. The only downside is you have to press "Start Recording" at the beginning of each journey.

Mine was updated over the air; however it took 3 or 4 days after payment.

My response to Mercedes regarding "Start Recording every trip was ....Dash cams are legal in the UK so why not start Loop automatically in the UK and switch off in countries like Austria where cams are not legal.

They replied..."This can only apply to 3rd party dashcams" !!

Aye, less than helpful from MB, think what they are implying if you have NextBase or BlackVue cams they can and do start recording automatically, but with their MBUX built-in cam their hands are somehow tied...therefore the driver must press 'Record' at the start of every journey !!!
