"Aufrecht Melcher Grossaspach" just thought I'd share as I just found out what it means today

Mercedes was a brand of the Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft (DMG) which began to develop in 1900, after the death of its co-founder, Gottlieb Daimler.
The first Mercedes-Benz brand name vehicles were produced in 1926, following the merger of Karl Benz's and Gottlieb Daimler's companies into the Daimler-Benz company
"AMG" (Aufrecht Melcher Großaspach) is an abbreviation which stands for: Hans Werner Aufrecht (A) and Erhard Melcher (M) who were partners, while Aufrecht’s birthplace of Großaspach (G) supplied the third letter in the company name.

courtesy of wiki, for anybody that's interested.

Mercedes itself is named after Emil Jellinek's daughter.

Today it seems to stand more for a spec rather than a proper car
