Just for clarity I’m not intending on fitting one, I’m just asking if anyone on the forum has done so o_O

Loads of Mercs in the ME and literally all over Asia have them.

Bit chavvy here but a lot of Merc owners are chavs these days anyway.

Slightly harsh, I don't like the lit badge myself, but if it could be subtley coordinated with the paint scheme of the car, it would look rather cool!

I am have the worst taste of anyone I know (other than my choice of her loveliness of course).
my middle name is ‘Tacky’
I even like chrome wheel arches on a Mercedes (seriously)
But it’s a definite ‘NO’ from me!!

I don’t mind being the “one”. I quite like the genuine Mercedes-Benz illuminated star. It’s an extension to the surround lighting, which activates when locking and unlocking.

Hi,
I will get flamed for this but i like it and have fitted one to my 65 plate 207 Cabriolet, I have received many compliments about it as well though I used a good quality aftermarket item bought from Amazon.
Mercedes wired it in two different ways either with a control unit which switches it on at certain times, or on when the ignition is on.
I used the proper loom to have it on all the time the ignition is on, though i think I am going to rewire it with the control unit.

I wasn't a fan until I saw one in person. they are actually fairly subtle.

I see what you mean regarding the OE example in post #13, but the one in the first post isn't subtle much.

Personally, I'm more likely to eat razor blades than fit one to any of my cars, but it's a matter of taste. We live in a multi-cultural society, and people from some cultures - well, most, actually, except those with western European roots - like flashy, blingy, chavvy tat, and Mercedes want to sell cars to as many people as possible.

I suppose it will help find your MB in the great car park on MBs ….

Are they even legal, given the regulations for the spacing and placement of lights?

I really like it and have considered getting one for my car. However, it would be a 'party piece' and I would only have it on for pics/videos/meets etc. not on all the time

As Greenmask asks...are they legal if on and driving at night ? Cue everyone saying 'what about the big trucks driving on our roads with similar crap on the front of them , or massive illuminations behind the driver lighting up the whole cab from within..? same question.

Genuine question , I don't know the answer.

PS , legal or not they look cheap IMO.

Just cancelled my order of Adidas track suits.

I never saw these until i was in South London picking up some winter wheels one evening and saw them on three cars.

It's one of those things really where if it comes as standard with the car it's going to look good but if you add it on it's going to feel a bit naff like putting an AMG badge on a C220 CDI or like i saw yesterday a CLK with both the bonnet and grill star o_O i'm pretty sure i used my outside voice and shouted Whyyyyyyy! as it went past.
