Mercedes-Benz UK - Servicing - 7+ Value Service

Given the caveat on the website that it does not follow the standard service schedule, I'm not convinced it will satisfy the terms and conditions of Mobilo.

..or the anti-rust warranty... or any long-term goodwill warranty e.g SBC...

+1

Although I'd be keen to know the answer. If anyone's taken advatage of this 7+ value service, MB via the Mobilio helpline number should be able to confirm whether your car is still elgible.

I'm sure most of you guys could do an oil and filter change...and the rest is just using your eyes. Seems expensive. What do they mean by genuine MB parts? The oil filter?

KwikFit can do an oil change for under £50.

However, Olly did the A Service on my car yesterday, and his pair of eyes are not the same as mine... I am happy that he looked the car over - especially from the underside - and made the comments that he did.

So the idea that an experienced technician checks your car once a year is not a bad one as such. If you consider that it is only done once a year, the costs is not unreasonable.

The MOT is fine, but they are only interested in safety and emission related issues (as well as legal ones) - so may not bother to mention a leaky diff and will definitely not check the condition of the V-belt.

Some of us may of course be seasoned DIY mechanics with axle stands or ramp at home or with access to garage with a 4-post - which is fine. But MB clearly can't assume that we can all do that.

...or that the dealer will stamp the service book. Some might do it without thinking, but others will refuse as it doesn't follow the standard schedule.

Might be better to use the 7+ price as a lever to get them to do an A service for a similar price, which is what ended up happening in DSLiverpool's case.

I've done my own oil and filter changes in the past - and even some basics like radiators etc. - it's all straight forward stuff with a few basic tools.

But why on Earth anyone would want to Richard around doing it when they don't have the inclination to and don't have to...

I'd rather pay a professional who knows what they are doing rather than reading about it from those who claim the same...

You pay someone else to do it so you can spend your time doing what you want to do - unless you are a bit odd and one enjoy's doing it one's self for enjoyment...
