Afternoon all,

I have a 2011 E350CDI & 2016 C250d. What is the best code reader I can buy for these. Both are keepers so would like to invest in one

Thanks

A cheap Star knock-off will be Chinese, and cheap Chinese knock-offs don't have the best reputation for reliability. Unless you intend to engage in heavy diagnostics and serious DIY repair, an iCarsoft will be fine.

I have one; it is. I have the previous version (MB II), bought used from a forum member. I don't know what the V2.0 does that mine doesn't, and I've yet to find mine wanting, but for the small price difference I'd pay the extra and get the later V2.0, simply because it is the latest version.

I have an iCarsoft MB V2.0 for sale. As new and hardly used (I now have a W210 so it's no use any more).
Yours for £80.00 posted if you're interested.

Thanks Ronnie

Remember a genuine iCarsoft can be updated online for free.

Be sure to back up your SD card prior to any update.
The update trashed my SD and the agent was worse than useless to get resolution, but I've read other poor feedback on them.

It was GLK that saved my V2 by copying his SD for me.

The V2 definitley has a good purpose but has design / software issues. I've seen it read pressure in centigrade and on one OBD page won't give a readout (not the link error message) but can see same equipment in 'Diagnostics'.

As for Star rip offs, I bought one fairly local but probably out of China. A week later the seller contacted to say not to use as it might damage my ECU, too late.

Anytime ive updated mine the old version remains and isnt over written. Still best to back it up though.

Updated mine last week. It now does manual regen of the DPF on a W212 E250 which it didn't did before, just in case . [emoji23]
Also codes and alters fuel feed on injectors, programs steering angle, oil change resets, bleeds SBC brakes, manual regen of DPF, and loads more besides.
But I always back up my current os before updating.
