Essential to check if it has a Valeo radiator. If things go wrong you could be landed with a bill for between £2 - 5,000.
Changing the radiator would cost around £300.

Plenty of threads on this forum relating to Valeo Radiator. LINK.

Thanks for that advice. I don't know if they will be anyone there that will know what I'm talking about. Is it the radiator on the front of engine with the water an coolant in ?

I've tried looking on that link. To view on there I've bought a tax disc sticker for £4.00 but still not showing yet.

One thing to be aware of: The car has a system for braking called SBC, it is essentially a "brake by wire" system, unlike in conventional braking where your effort on the pedal is directly transferred through the hydraulics to the brakes with assistance from the brake servo.

SBC uses a high pressure hydraulic reservoir to provide braking force and can alter the force applied to each wheel dynamically. See here if you want more information:Sensotronic Brake Control - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The system has been designed to operate for a fixed number of cycles and then the pump assembly either needs replacing, or, if you are lucky can be re-programmed to operate for an extended period of time.
Mercedes were replacing these free of charge, then offering a contribution to the cost of replacement (around £1800 from Mercedes) but now they will not offer anything.

Also check around the injectors for any sign of leaking diesel, it is not uncommon and not to difficult to fix but can still cost several hundred pounds to fix.

Like any complex car check that everything works, check that it warms up to around 88 deg C , if not then the thermostat may need changing.

Also, it will have a 5 speed automatic, not 6 speed, check if it has had a gearbox fluid change, it should have had one at around 37,000 miles and if not had one at all or since factor in around £180 for this from an independent.

The price seems a little high so use some of the above to negotiate down if you like the car.

Good luck.

Also look for Valero radiator too.

He meant Valeo radiator.

Sean. The link in my previous post shows how to tell if the car is fitted with a suspect radiator.
The issue is that the joint for the gearbox cooler can leak antifreeze into it due to not being sealed properly. That can wreck the gearbox and torque converter friction material adhesive.

If the car judders and drones on acceleration, it has the problem.

hi diesel man I'm looking at c class 320 06 plate 86 k miles on clock 2 owners wants £5990 it's a funny silver looks little gold colour. It's nice looking black leather change gear on steering wheel. Only thing that's missing that I want is the sat nav built in, only as mercedes stereo, or there is a e class CDI 320 sport got 100k on clock 1 owner had brabus chip box put on it, tinted windows, that not got sat nav system in it either he wants £6999. Both look good which would you go for, both have service history.

Well if you really want sat nav just walk away from these cars. There are plenty about that will have sat nav. Retro fitting is expensive!
