Hello,
I have just bought a C220 and the aircon does not work. Everything checks out with refrigerant etc but when I have had the car diagnostics checked the system is flagging a fault that can't be cleared. It is an evaporator temperature sensor malfunction. The diagnostics say the sensor is recording -128 degrees. I have checked both footwells and removed trims to find a sensor to no avail.
Is the car fitted with an evaporator temperature sensor, if so where is it fitted? Or is the diagnostics flagging something that the car doesn't have fitted.
Any help would be so grateful.

Think you may find its this:
Number 120 (Arrowed).
Untitled.jpg

The part number is A2208300772

Replacement looks easy.

These two PDF files will show you how to take the cover off, and how to change the sensor.

I am assuming that the first 9 digits of your VIN number are WDB204302
If its anything else, just let me know what the number is, but the proceedure and the part will probably be the same.
Dont worry, these just tell you that the vehicle is a car (WDB) a C-Class (204) and its a 220 engine (302)
All Mercedes for the last goodness knows how many years have used this system
Mine is WDB220174.
The rest of the VIN concerns your actual car, dont share the rest of it.

Thanks Steve, I will check the VIN number. I am presuming on a right hand drive vehicle it is in the drivers footwell?

Hi Steve, the vin Is WDD2040022A

According to the EPC its the same part number A2208300772
Its also the same replacement procedure, the panel/s you need to remove are under the steering wheel.
You will probably have to be a contortionist, but thats part and parcel of fixing your Mercedes.
Just look at the two PDF files I attached to my last post, these are taken straight from the Mercedes service manual WIS, for your car.
