Will be interesting to see what the stats are. The electric version of the W447 Vito (which this appears to be based on) has a range of just 93 miles (150 km) and top speed limited to 75 mph. But that might be OK for a lot of typical V Class usage e.g. hotel/airport shuttle runs.

THE BATTERY PACK

THE BATTERY PACK CAN BE INCREASED FROM 3 TO 4 TO INCREASE RANGE OR CARRYING CAPACITY
THE BATTERY PACK IS THE SAME AS IS USED IN THE S CLASS HYBRID AND OTHER MB SALOONS.

Don't think so- a lot has happened in battery technology in the last 4 years. I suspect these early small capacity hybrid battery packs were third party bespoke build products- hence the very high replacement cost- owners in effect acting as prototype field testers of the technology. :( AFAIK Mercedes have their own battery pack assembly plants now [German Accumotive] ,altho the individual cells are still built out in the Far East. Would be interesting to know what sort of traction battery warranty they offer on the eVITO for example.;)

EDIT :- according to Parkers
It will be significantly more expensive to buy than a diesel Vito, yes. UK prices have yet to be revealed, but expect them to be around £35,000 to £40,000 plus VAT based on the German market price of €39,990. The batteries have an eight-year, 62,500-mile warranty.

A 62,500 mile warranty isn't going to last long on a commercial vehicle ...

Agreed- may also depend on the price of a replacement pack of course but the high purchase price of the vehicle doesn't hold out much hope there. In its favour whole life costs such as energy purchase, licencing and servicing of simpler mechanics [ no gearbox for example] may balance that up somewhat against a conventional diesel van with a 3 year warranty in a very stop start environment ?

Actually with a sub-100 mile range (e-Vito) the 62,500 mile warranty may last longer than you'd think!

I guess these vehicles are targeted primarily at inner city areas where zero emissions may offer big savings, or indeed become mandatory. I think it will take a few years yet before battery technology becomes viable for normal van/MPV usage, due to the size & weight of these vehicles.

A little more on the EQV
And an older video tour.
