Mercedes me app not connecting

Now makes a bit of sense if it happens when subscriptions have expired. MB would otherwise need to continue paying for the network access. If they assume the customer would not return, then better to shut down the device.

Still odd if it keeps working over wifi, perhaps those free features only? This too consumes their resources, server resources but not a big deal.
Mine hadn’t expired - it was coming up for renewal. I wanted to renew but was told I couldn’t! There is also no upgrade path for the comms from 3G to 4G which is a shame.

I'm assuming (I could well be incorrect as I'm new to Mercedes as a brand) that the Mercedes me services are free for the first three years and then you have to subscribe after that?

I only got my new car last November and according to my Mercedes me account online, all the services are showing as valid until November 2025.

Basically, the app connects every time if my phone is on wi-fi (either my home wi-fi or any wi-fi), but if it's on "data" (be that 3G/4G/5G), the app will not connect or update the stats. It was fine for the first couple of months of ownership but did seem to stop working when iOS 16.3.1 came along, but that might just be coincidence.

But this is an iPhone issue, not related to the car (modem). Discussed on other threads, have not followed in any detail if there is any solution.

There is no data limit. The data package is only for high volume services (hotspot in the car, browsing from MBUX...).

Anyway, your case is different from the 3G as you have a 4G modem. But are you saying the car needs home wifi, not the iPhone to make Mercedes Me app connect to the car? Has it been long like this, I understand it has worked before?
When the car and the iphone are both at home they communicate via the same wifi network, when they are away from home they both say they are connected to 4G but will not talk to each other. I have tried disabling the house wifi when at home to force the connection onto 4G but without success.
My MMe app subscriptions are valid until August and I've had no problems like this over the past 2+ years I've had the car. I can't pinpoint the exact date this issue became apparent but it is within the past 2 months and there have been two ios upgrades in that period I think - but that could be a coincidence.

The issues have nothing to do with Mercedes Me subscriptions. I didn't renew any of my packages when they expired last year but Mercedes Me still works to show you lock status, trip data, etc. The issue is something between Mercedes and O2. Mercedes have acknowledged there's an issue and claim their developers are working on a fix

It appears to me Apple (and Merc) have screwed up big time with the latest iOS.

The app its not the best... Its not updating very often. I'm getting the info than my car is unlocked even when I know that is locked...

It's definitely traffic between o2 and Mercedes. I'm affected, and I've seen a load of our customers with same issue. I've talked to Mercedes CAC and they acknowledge it, And I've put a VPN on my phone and then it works !

The MBUX "Users" facility is useless, every time I try to add another user i.e. my wife it wipes all my settings out so I then have no users stored. Anyone else had this problem

There is an upgrade path now. email me your vin to [email protected] and I will take a look and see if yours can be done.

Ok if i do the same please? 2019 GLC43, MercedesMe has stopped updating as at 15th Dec 23. I renewed the subs package in June23 so i'm pretty hacked off to be missing 6 months worth of subs.

Scrap the above - the car has 362 - Hermes LTE which i understand is 4G. So back to square 1 trying to work out why it won't connect.

Well, after a couple of weeks or so of it working fine, it’s now not.

Interestingly from what I have noticed, it only seems to be a problem when the weather is clear so I am guessing cloud cover seems to aid in the mobile signal maybe?

Not that tech minded so not sure.

Theoretically low cloud should worsen your mobile signal ....not improve it. Water droplets absorb microwaves and their energy (that's how microwave ovens work)....they don't reflect it..
Radio waves however do bounce off clouds and any CB radio users will know how this can increase your audible range...DX-ing.
