Hello

I love the new C Class, but want a ML

Budget is ideally 31k but at a stretch can push to the max of 35k

The ML, I'm aware re new shape/name for the ML, ie GLE

I'm looking at 20k mileage max.
No more than 2 yrs old.

I feel the 250 engine will best meet my needs, but 3-0 may be

I drive about 8 times in a day, ie drop of the OH, then our daughter, go to work, go to meeting/s, pick up my OH, then our daughter - London roads, speed humps, congestion and having to rush from work when I finish at 3-30 and pick up my OH

It's a big car and ideally one for the hols and weekends - but I want a SUV.
I do drive a large SUV at times as big as the ML - belongs to my son and drive it about 3/4 times a year and find it ok for casual drives

Any advice re using the ML for the journeys I've mentioned?

The running costs, better than my MB c 180 auto Avt 2007 but what about the maintenance and are they reliable as my current MB

Btw, what is the main difference between the SE and Sport models as I cant tell

Many thanks again

Get a petrol car, really if your journeys are just short trips it's much more sensible.

We had an ML300 CDI "60" plate. I owned it 4 months and did 7,000 miles in that time. It was awful to drive on anything other than flowing open roads.

When I looked around, the ML63 were way out of my price range.... However, this is a good thing when you come to sell-on.

Diesels are way more common but the ML63 could turn out to be the lowest "cost to own" bearing in mind youe relatively low mileage.

The performance tends to make the daily commute more tolerable as well.

Win-win really...

Yeah, avoid the diesel.

Although, do Mercedes UK offer any of the non AMG petrols?

350, 400, 450 AMG, 500?

Is that a question?

I would doubt the running costs would be less than a 2007 C180.

I think if you expect 22-26mpg from the 350d and 25-28mpg from the 250d doing those runs you will not be far off.

Hi,
Over the past 15,000 km - our ML63 with performance pack has averaged 19.2 litres per 100km - this equates to 14.7 mpg.
This is since new and includes the running in period followed by the hooligan period in sport mode to hear pops and barp noises on the up and down changes!
Luckily - super unleaded only costs 32p per litre!
Cheers
Steve
