Hi all,

After just three weeks of owning my first M-B in my 30 yr + driving experience, I find it quite a pleasant experience.
However, the more posts I see on the forum, the more I get confussed I have to say:all comes down to the reference / type of cars we talk about: W-208,W-211, W-123, etc.etc. I would have loved to call them as we normally see them on the streets ( CLK-240, CLS-350, S-500, A-160, etc).
As I'm sure this trend won't change it just because I want, could anyone of you send me a list of the most common equivalents?. For instances, my CLK-240 2004 convertible corresponds to what?

Thanks!!

Well done mates, pretty quick on the answer, thanks. This will be my homework for tonight.

It helps denote the generational changes of each model, and your CLK is the second generation, on a W209 chassis (the first four characters of you chassis no), preceded by the first generation on a W208 chassis. They don't always follow in logical order, though. The S500 you mention has seen four generations, on a 126, 140, 220 and 221(latest) chassis. The letter prefix denotes the chassis type, such as W for wagen (saloon), with other letters such as R, S, C and A (isn't there a V for limos?).

Edit - Sorry, took a phone call after starting this response!
