Hello All,

I'm new on here. I've just moved down to Ashby from up North, and I'm after any recommendations please for a good, trustworthy Merc specialist near me. Derby, Loughborough and Nottingham are all fairly close. Any suggestions please?

Regards

Paul

MB Automotive in Loughborough or Mercland in Nuneaton

So I called a specialist in Nottingham today that I found on google, but they didn't exactly fill me with confidence, so I'm going to give them a swerve, then I called MB Automotive who did give me confidence. The guy I spoke with clearly knew his stuff so I'm booked in there. They can't take it in for 6 weeks which is a bit of a blow, but if they are quality and trustworthy I guess it's worth the wait. He did say they are looking for bigger premises, such is there workload, so hopefully the booking time might come down in the future. Looking at there google reviews, they are really positive apart from a handful of bad ones, so if no one's got anything terrible to report about them on here then I'll stick with my booking and give them a go?

I always use MB Automotive having tried most if not all Mercedes/German 'specialists' in the area and been either let down or given obviously questionable advice or recommendations on changing xy or z.

Around Jan, it was a 3 week wait, so if it's now 6 weeks, then that could be just unlucky timing with a load of other customers needing stuff done now.

What do you need doing and how urgent is it?

If they’re anything like my indie, they may be struggling to retain/get reliable staff.

I know only of them by reputation (nothing but positive) so I’ll suggest if they are that busy, their reputation is justified.

Which specialist in Nottingham?

I need quite a bit doing worst luck. I've known about it all for a while to be fair but what with the house move etc just had to put it on the back burner. I have an oil leak from the dreaded oil cooler, looks like this is quite a common thing on the M642, brakes, the suspension sinks slowly on the passenger rear, oh and a service? Fingers crossed for a lottery win over the next few weeks.

They are worth the wait. You could always drive over and say hello.
Took your advice and did pop over for a nosey. What a cracking little place with a lovely guy on reception called Martin. He said they are fully staffed with ex B&K Thomas/Mercedes Nottingham tech's, but they're just stacked out with work. He said they are actively looking for bigger premises close by so they get another 2 tech's in to bring the booking time down. And he did say that if my vehicle needed a small job that they would fit in somewhere, but as he rightly pointed out I'm in for 2 days work, and it is impossible for them to squeeze a job of that size in to an already bulging diary, which put that way sounds fair enough to me. Was very impressed though so a near 6 week wait it is.

It's not far from the QMC, MB Notts I think?
Oh yes they charge similar to dealer prices so I've never used them!

I had my oil cooler replaced there maybe 2 years ago. They were competitively priced in my opinion. I think I detailed on here what work was undertaken at the time and the cost.
