Mercedes star has lifted off engine cover

Have a Cla 45 and the star has gone,noticed it was very brittle with the heat,sure I read somewhere that Mercedes are replacing the whole engine cover as you can’t get only the badge?
Any other 45 owners having problems or have read or heard anything?

Same on my old C55 AMG . Long gone when I bought it, I thought replacement would be easy. No chance, have to buy the whole front part of the engine cover. I have looked around for a 3 star badge that might fit but with no luck.

I treat the hole as a custom made 'heat release device' until I feel the need to spend hundreds ££ on some under bonnet trinket.

Yep. A common issue on the 45's I'm afraid. My solution was to prise the star off an old centre cap I had - it's exactly the right size - and then fix it to the engine cover with some heat proof silicon adhesive. The centre cap was from my old W204 C-Class - but I imagine any standard size cap would do the trick. Mine has stayed on for longer than the original

Ray just stuck one on my cover .I had a set of 4 alloy centre caps and i broke one fitting them .So i used one of them on my cover .I have three left if you would like to have one , its free . I think they are for 75 mm hole so the stick on logo will be 2.1/2 aprox .Want a picture before you make your mind up?

Put it in on Monday and I am waiting on them getting back as to wether they can do a warranty or good will fix?

Got my new engine cover fitted today,had to pay £50 so was ok with that,got my front brembo discs replaced under warranty as they were shuddering like hell when braking from 70 mph
Only done 1500 miles
