Recently my W201 1.8E 1991 has sudden loss of power and dies out, starting it up again it putting for on the gas and it wants to die again only seems to do this at low revs, higher revs it seems fine it did this a year ago and then fault disappeared now it back and not going anywhere. Recent service a 1,500 miles ago. Any ideas?

How are you distributor cap and rotor arms looking?

Does it die after running for 5-10 seconds on a cold start, then not start again?

Check the hose from the fuel distributor boot to the idle air control valve for splits.

When it cuts out. Do you have spark at the plugs?

Have you tried taking off the distributor cap and rotor arm and giving the main lower metal distributor body a good drying out with a hairdryer. Sometimes condensation gets trapped in the lower half of the body as its metal. As the engine starts to heat up that condensate vaporises into the upper distributor cap Causing HT shorts and mis-fires

My thoughts as well. Usually due to poor fitting aftermarket HT cap missing the seal.
