Mercedes warranties?

I have purchased BMWs within the 3 year warranty period and the warranty is passed on to the new owner and can then be extended by him/her for several years. E.G. my BMW Series 3 convertible warranty I stretched for 7 years until I sold it at 85K miles. Is the same possible on M-Bs. I've seen M-B dealers offering up to 100,000 WITHIN 12 months warranty. But its not the same as BMWs. I ask this as I wish to buy a SL350.

Yes it can be extended:
Tier 1 - Most comprehensive, and available up to 60,000 miles at the start of the 12 month period.
Tier 2 - Not quite so comprehensie, and available over 60,000 miles.

Also consider Service Plus which is a service package with wear & tear which many people (me included) have taken as a substitute to a warranty. Available in 12 month blocks not extending beyond the car's 6th birthday.
