Micro bubbling

I have an issue with my black MB. It’s 2yrs old and the paint is bubbling along the trim on the windscreen. I went to MB and they told me this is due to “outside influence “ and they won’t cover it under the paint warranty!
I then took it to a local garage who told me it’s corroding from the inside out and is definitely not “outside influence”
I wondered if anyone else had this problem and was successful with MB doing the repairs? They seem to come up with any excuse not to repair the car (Also had an issue with one of the windows that they wouldn’t replace either)

Could be a long legal fight coming by the sounds of it.

+1, get 3 written opinions from reputable body shops, then go back to main dealer with the evidence. If they still don't budge, go to MB customer service in MK.

If they don't budge from there, take legal action. People usually win in the UK courts as our legal system takes a dim view of manufacturers back stepping form their responsibilities.

I agree you shouldn't have to do any of this, but MB are not who they were 25 years ago.

The only question I would ask is :

Has it had a replacement windscreen ?

Annoying but yes if you have the time and will you'll probably win this.
I love my Mercedes and previous ones but dare I say all have lacked in the paintwork / early corrosion department.

Whatever you do make no attempt to touch it up or repair it yourself (as if you would) but years ago when I was a bit less clued up on these things I touched up a tiny bit of bubbling corrosion on my 4 year old Vauxhall Omega Elite thinking I was doing the right thing using Vauxhall touch up pen .

Only months later after getting to know a guy in the trade he told me the anti corrosion warranty was still in place ....it was, but they rejected the claim because 'an unauthorised repair had been made to the effected area'

Live and learn

Have you owned the car from new, ie know its history from day one and can be certain that it hasn't had previous work in that area? Did they explain what they meant by outside influence, stone chips?

Did the dealer actually submit the claim to MB in Germany and it was declined? Or did the dealer just dismiss you out-of-hand?

If the latter, then try a different dealership, if there's another one in your area (and regardless of who you bought the car from).

It's a warranty claim, so ultimately it's not the dealer's say anyway, instead its MB who make the final decision, but sometimes it is difficult to find a dealer that is willing to be helpful - sad but true.

And, as others said, if the claim is rejected, try and understand why. Even if it's legitimately rejected, there could be a claim here against the supplying dealer, e.g. if they sold you a car that had the windscreen replaced unprofessionally etc.

Good luck.

Some years ago I had an issue with a Vauxhall that the dealer refused to sort under goodwill warranty, I paid and then sent a letter of complaint to Vauxhall HQ in Luton, who sent me a cheque for 75% of the repair cost.

I had my 5 year old Fire Opal C class coupe fully repainted with a back to bare metal paint job done under warranty by Mercedes due to micro blistering, the Body shop manager told me Merc are approving claims on anything up to 10 years old. The car has come back like new and I’m really pleased with the paint job, it is as good as the day it left the factory

I just found this on the area of the roof, between the windscreen and sunroof on my 2018 GLC, just posted in another thread as well

seems this panel, is plastic, and has started to delaminate, so not part of the paint warranty, the Approved body shop, have apparently seen this before. now waiting to see if covered by the extended merc warranty for its replacement, strange the body shop say it can't be fixed. as it's injection moulded
