CLK55 AMG
Hello to all,
I'm a newbie here on the forum and just bought a year 2000 CLK55 AMG today. I got it off a friend who is leaving the country for good and at a very good price.
My concern is the engine seems to be missing a part . It doesn't seem to affect the drivability or anything else and no malfunction message is shown on the display. I've tried looking for a picture or diagram online but failed.I live in Malaysia so I suspect it MAY be something to do with emissions as the regulations here are not very strict on such things. I've asked the previous owner and he is as dumbfounded as I am.
I hope someone here could help me out please.
The part looks like it fits into a cylindrical clamp on the front of the engine, above the fan. Can anyone please tell me what's missing here please?

Auxiliary air pump would be fitted there on some models. It's quite normal for some wiring to be there looking like it should go on something, but no pump was fitted at the factory. Don't worry about it.

if you scroll down for engine pics in this bottom link, you will see a black pump inside the clamp.
some cars in europe and most export markets had this pump fitted for emissions
my euro car does not have this pump, this pump is one less failing emission problem!
