Just a question, have above car, with only 36,000 miles, auto box works as it should, but being told i should have the transmission fluid changed before 40,000.
Is that correct ?, local garage stated about £200 to have done, is that a reasonable charge for work

I'd take it to a specialist and make sure that they change ALL the oil inc draining the TC

I suppose i am lucky, as have a decent MB independent close by, or an Auto gearbox place close as well.

I just got the service record and invoice from the MB dealer for my recently acquired ML. They only put in 5 L at the gearbox oil change so did not drain the TC when it was done 5 k ago charged about £200. Will get it done properly at next service at my Indi

The auto gearbox specialist stated that on the 5 speed auto it is not possible to drain the TC. It was on the gearbox before this one. No price yet as did not ask, but they suggested having it done due to age and not mileage, which I suppose is a fair comment.

What he means to say is that there's no drain plug for the TC... but the TC can still be drained via the hose that goes to the oil cooler. It just takes longer.
