ML270 CDi
Hi all. My alarm on my ML270 CDi (53 plate) keeps going off for no reason. Have searched forum and think it may be the siren unit? Have seen them on Ebay for £100 but does the unit contain the battery for the siren and will solve the problem or are there other elements to replace?

Many thanks in advance for any responses.

Nigel

Get one from the dealer. They are under £100. A new one should solve your problem and it only takes 30 mins to do the job.

You'll need a T30 security torx bit IIRC. Toolstation sell a complete set for under £10

An alarm siren is usually a stock item.
The siren is located under the windscreen wipen mechanism. You have to remove the wipers and the plastic scuttle trim, then the wiper mechanism.

Annoyingly my CLKs one is in the wheel arch, a pain in the ass to change apparently :/

Not at all. Remove the rear arch liner on the front wheel (My E class siren is on the o/s/f), undo the torx bolt holding the siren to the wheel arch (You'll need a security torx with a hole in the top), disconnect the siren and replace with the new. Even stopping for a brew it should take less than an hour.

Here is a good how to with photos.

Doh!!!

Removed the wheel arch liner tonight and it wasn't there. :fail

Seen your post for the windscreen scuttle position so looking in the wrong place.

Must order a new siren tomorrow.

Thanks again!
