Am I right in assuming providing the MB car is serviced by MB,
Mobilolife provides a warranty for breakdown (i.e. prevents car from going A to B), e.g. if the auto gear box dies, or the engine starter motor goes, MB replace it free of charge, parts and labour?.. even a punctured tyre?

"It will also keep you mobile while your vehicle is being repaired, free of charge for labour and materials, at any Mercedes-Benz authorised workshop."
http://www.mercedes-benzoftruro.co.uk/Our_Best_Kept_Secret_77982.asp

In which case the rather expensive dealer charges redeems it somewhat?
(compared to Audi and BMW servicing, which doesn't offer the bells and whistles of Mobilolife, yet are around the same costs)

Hi,

The cost of the parts are only free under warrantee!

I used Mobili Life last week (ABS / ESP) failure. The Mobilo Life technition was No1, but the back-up service is crap. They now use National Rentals, first C220 CDI had a flat tyre, second C200 CDI had a petrol leak and then after some tough talking I was eventualy given all that they could find in London, Herts, Beds and Bucks, a ML 270CDI.

The tow company driver from `Lantern Removals` was a joke, he was thick, rude and crude and seemed to have a chip on his shoulder the minute he arrived.

I know what you mean about the recovery drivers being rude. The one who came out to me called me thick for not knowing how to disengage drive on the gearbox when the battery was flat. He apologised after I told him I was already Pi#### off and that ripping his head off would probably make me feel better. I still wrote and complained though.

They don't replace punctured tires because it is considered wear and tear...

Mobilo life are really crap  A friend found out he didnt have the short bolts at the side of the M6 and was then told that it was going to cost £185 to get his car off the motorway as he didnt have the bolts and they were just going to leave him at the dealer at 10pm till they opened in the mornin and that was it ......

talk about going to pot ...

...another story

I have used the "service" once, and have often wondered whether or not it was worth "paying" inflated service charges for. I don't think so.
My problem wasn't that serious...
Somehow the nice electronic key managed to "slip off" the skeleton key on the key ring. Lost key! Panic! Called the Mobilolife telephone. Spoke to nice lady and then technician (at 10pm) and they said wait till morning and go to the dealers. Having just spent £18K on the car a week ago. Slept... yes!...slept in the car and went to the dealers 7am. They said that new key would take several days to arrive, but did do something to the car to prevent any other key opening it apart from the spare key which I still had. New key £55 gulp. Expensive Lesson #1 !

Actually £55 for a new key is pretty good. Fiat will charge about the same!
However, having paid the £55 for an MB key I'm still waiting for a complete key 5 months later. After 3 months an electronic part was supplied, and a month later the metal part arrived. Sadly the electronic bit was the newer smaller design and the metal bit was for the older larger design so they won't marry together. Another '4 or 5 days' (its been another 2 weeks now) until either another electronic bit or a smaller metal bit can be supplied to make a matching set. I'm not holding my breath!

Incidentally, if you lose your master key on some Fiats, it costs anywhere up to £1000 to replace it, as it involves replacing a couple of ECUs and all the locks. At least we don't have that problem.

Has anyone used this Mobilolife abroad. I've always taken out extra cover with my car insurance approx £60 with direct line and wondered just to do the same as an extra backup. Is the breakdown sevice going to be any different.? It's along drive to Italy.

I cannot find the thread but, I have broken down in Switzerland. Well not failed completely, but had ABS/EPS brake failure light come on in the Swiss Alps.
Phoned Mobilo and they patched me through to local MB Dealer who discussed it with me on the phone and we arranged for me to take it in the next morning with the promise of a hire car if it was going to take them more than two hours. The diagnosed a solenoid fault which was intermittent. Spoke to Mobilo again and they patched me through to my local Dealer in England who ordered the part and I went in and had it changed when I got back. They even reimbursed all of my mobile phone bill, which was more than the allowance in the mobilo book.

Excellent service.:bannana: :bannana:

Other than a stroppy tow truck driver I have found Mobilo-Life to be excellent. Much better than what is on offer from most other prestige car manufacturers.

My Ml Stuck in 'Park' and selector refused to budge.

Phoned Mobilo, and they said someone would be there in 30 minutes. Needed to go home, so left the key in shop (where I was parked outside) and got cab home.

Mobilo man phoned 10 minutes after I got home and said car was fixed, and he would deliver it home providing I gave him a lift back to his van.

15 minutes later he arrived at my home and explained that there is a 'Trapdoor' on the gearselector gate and if you poke a Biro down the hole it releases the lock !!!

I gave the guy a lift back to his van and drove around with a Biro sticking out of the selector for a few days until the dealer fitted a new 'widget' and solved the problem.

Brilliant service from mobilo on the ML.

Had a prob last month and was really p****d off when National could only offer me a Smart. Nice replacement for an S Class.
Any way we told them wife can only drive automatics and they said they didn't have any in our area.
Rang Mobilo and they said if not happy with National we could source a hire car ourselves and because we had an S Class they would pay up to £68.50 per day for a max of 5 days while our car was in dealers.

I have a similar dilemma dealer can only offer a non MB manual transmission car (what ever make that may be) I'm flaky on manual as I've driven auto for over ten years now. Even a semi auto car isn't on the cards. Might have to go the same route an hire something auto.

Off topic, a Mini was on the hard shoulder of the motorway and behind it was a smart silver 5 series touring 'rescue' vehicle with black chequered livery. > haven't seen one of those white E Class estate rescue cars yet. (as featured in the Mobilolife brochure)
