Righto, those who chimed in on the previous thread may be pleased to know that the car now starts. A couple of fuses were blown (:o not sure if I missed them before, one was for the ACC :confused: and the other for central locking).

Right so now the PSE works a treat (apart from lumbar but it never has), we've lost start error and the engine will now start, however;

The BAS/ASR light is illuminated (the "!" in the speedo isn't) and although it will idle of it's own accord, correctly off the key as soon as the throttle is pressed it will rev between 1100-1200rpm as though it's being limited, when the throttle is released it will maintain this idle. If the ignition is turned off and the engine restarted it will idle fine again. The same happens when the throttle is pressed.

It would appear that there is still a large enough drain on the battery to worry about.

Still, I guess it's a step in the right direction!

Okay, now I'm focusing my attention on the throttle system, I'm told it's very sensitive and could have been damaged when I jump started it. My symptoms point to this as well.

Can anyone give an overview as to how the system works? My guess is it's; pedal>cable>potentiometer>some sort of control module (ECU perhaps?)>ETA.

So far I've stripped down the ETA and it's in my hand, it's quite different from the earlier types. The wiring loom seems to be okay, being one of the last I guess that helps.

Okay doke, lunchtime update, I've put it all back together minus the cover for the ETA.

It still starts the same but there's still the same hunting as soon as the throttle is pressed, it will maybe increase the revs by 100rpm. There's no movement on the ETA at all. When I move the throttle plate manually it struggles then dies. It actuallys sounds like a fuelling issue :confused:.

Anyone with any suggestions?
