Hi guys,

This is my first post, been looking around for a while but i have a question!

What would you say are the most desirable colours and options for the 2.3/2.5-16v?

Also i recently saw a 2.5-16v for sale but it had only one electric seat, the drivers! Is that normal?

Many thanks...

Zak

190e W201

Metallic Black with black leather ....

Almandine red with biscuit leather ....

Silver with black leather .....

all good

what about dark metallic grey...almost like a gunmetal grey?

I take it you have been offered a gunmetal grey one then Zakh ? ;)

Its a nice colour, don't see many in that colour .... has it got leather ?

hehe...your right Howard! yes it has leather, electric seats, and heated seats!

Sounds good to me!! As long as the paintwork is in good condition - it's not a very forgiving colour and will show all the war wounds, and then some.

Can't say for sure whether it should be passenger too, but I would have only expected electric seat adjustment on the drivers seat on a 190.

having anything electric in a car like that is a bonus.

yes its possible for it only to ahve one electric seat if thats all that was ordered.

I answered a very similar question to this the other day, see here:

There is only one "metallic black"/"gunmetal" colour that was offered to the buying public AFAIK, colour code '199', Blue-Black metallic.

I've never seen a genuine W201 16v with biscuit leather, only half black leather/check or full black leather, black carpets, grey headlining etc.

HTH :)

The full spec is:

Gunmetal dark metallic grey
Heated seats
Drivers electric seat
Air con
Automatic
Sunroof
Full black leather
Full service history

seems quite rare and unusual that whoever ordered it only got the drivers seat electric...more of a drivers car then if that makes any sense!

Hi zakh,

Yes that is 'Blue-Black Metallic' (sometimes called pearl). It can look graphite black in some light, darker almost metallic black in others, and in the sun it can catch showing different hints of blue etc.

I'm not keen on automatic 16 valvers, it doesn't really suit the engine very well (revvy 4 cylinder), would be better suited to something like the 190E 2.6 (six cylinder) IMO :)

Both front seats are electric on that example you show ;)

Other than that, the only other things that I find offputting are the wheels (non original and wrong colour!), the tow bar (on a 190E 2.5-16  ) and the steering wheel (it's taken away from the originality of these collectable cars and will also be blocking the speedo from view :( )

The front indicator lenses are non original too, but they are at least tasteful and in keeping with the character of the car.

Personally I think £5k is a little expensive for the reserve. It may well have a rebuilt engine, but for not a great deal more wedge you might be able to find a more original example that will hold it's value better in the long run. In it's fairness, it's got a decent spec with full leather, rear headrests, sunroof and both seats being electric. I'd like to check the air con out properly on a car of this age, normally it won't be working.

Good luck if you decide to bid :)

Hi Will,

Im not going to bid on this at all, but just wanted to know if this was the blue/black you were talking about!
Im based in London so i need an autobox!
The car i have is that very colour, on a G plate...1990. Full leather, drivers electric seat, heated seats, sunroof, rear headrests...everything is original. The bodywork is in fantastic condition, even the air con works!!!

I looked for a long time...I would not even change the indicator lenses, i prefer them to be green.

But your right about the colour, its very nice indeed.

:)
