hi
the silver 124 failed its MOT on a few things, 2 of them being:
- left track rod end boot allowing ingress of dirt
- right track rod end excessive play
so, i ordered up 2 new track rod ends from an online supplier. unfortunatly when i went to fit them tonight i realised they have sent 1 wrong part (they sent an inner and outer end rather than 2 ends for each side of the car).
so, I replaced the left one with a new part, all OK.
the right side one I have put the good left one on that side and swapped over the rubber boots. however there was a slight nick on the old right boot that i re-used so i super glued it. its a minor nick, nothing major so shoudlnt allow any dirt in, especially now its glued.
question is - will this be good enough for a pass? can you glue these boots. the MOt rules changed in 2012 so i'm a bit unclear. as i will probably get a new part but MOt runs out tommorrow so dont have time to recieve a second replacement part. i could take the brand new boot off the wrong part but then that would ruin that part for possible future use....
