The multicontour seats didn’t work on my e~class, on investigation I found the pipe was disconnected under the passenger seat. Pushed the male & female pipe connectors back together and they both seats now work, but can someone tell me if you are sat in the seat with the system working is it normal that the pump that inflates the seat will run for about 1 second maybe around once or twice a minute? I just wondered if its working correctly or someone intentionally disconnected the air because of an issue? Thanks in advance Mark.

No. Most likely there's a leaking bladder in one of the seats.

Thanks for the reply I did wonder if a leak might be the issue, I will double check the air pipe connections, that’s easy enough. Anything else I will probably disconnect again and live with it.

Don't let the pump run like that for too long, gets very expensive (~£1k) to replace.
Star can run an inflation program to identify the leaky bladder, if that's the problem.

This post may help (or not)

Thanks David, funnily I had found and read that thread before. I think the connections are good, but I will Double check them. It looks like they have rubber O rings in the female side, I might try some light grease on them to see if that helps to seal any potential leaks. Thanks Mark.

It makes you wonder who comes up with prices like that, £1000 for a little air pump! you could buy a full on compressor for your garage for that sort of money. Anyway thanks for the warning, I will pull the pipe out to kill the system again until I have a chance to investigate further. Mark

Well that’s the pipe disconnected again it definitely went together better than it came apart, broke the female connector in the process.

With the tube disconnected (and open?) what's to stop the pump running, trying to fill the seat bladders?
Perhaps pull the electrical connector feeding the pump?

I’m sure I read somewhere that the system sense’s there’s a loss of air and doesn‘t operate, either seats inflation.
