Shanghai Automotive Industry, China's largest automaker who are launching facelifted Rovers under the Roewe brand, has agreed to buy Nanjing Automobile Group's auto-assembly and component-making businesses. http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/12/26/business/auto.php
Why is this vaguely interesting? because Nanjing Auto owns the formerly British MG marque. http://jalopnik.com/cars/news/return-of-morris-longbridge-to-resume-building-mg+tf-232837.php
SAIC is becoming a large conglomerate manufacturer just like British Leyland---------hold on a minute this is sounding eerily familiar !

Interesting! Our local Skoda dealer is going to sell MG in 2008.

I wonder if Nanjing/SAIC will continue to make the MG 7 and Roewe 750 models, both of which are closely based on the Rover 75? It would seem sensible to drop one of them.
