Nav or radio screen won’t come on unless I make a call ? Also rear camera now won’t work and parking sensors ?

Hi everyone

I bought a 2013 cl500 the other day .. got in it this morning and the media screen won’t work apart from air con controls .. no radio nav or anything .. until you make a call using Bluetooth then it works .. as soon as you hang up the screen goes blank again .. I’ve deactivated the Bluetooth on my phone and now can’t connect again .. now the camera and sensors won’t work either !

Any suggestions as this is really annoying

I am assuming that the battery is good and that you have checked all the fuses.

I am also assuming that nothing is plugged into the USB port, or into the UMI the media port, or Aux port on the COMAND unit... and that there are no SD-Cards or CD/DVD inserted into the COMAND unit.

The first thing to try is a hard reset, i.e. pull the COMAND fuse, or disconnect the battery for 10-15 minutes.

Then, I would re-flash the firmware (and update it at the same time, if the software is not on the latest version) - this can be done by an MB dealer, but your best bet is probably an independent specialist who has genuine STAR.

Also, Comand UK are not very far from you : www.comandonline.co.uk - they are near J3 on the M3, not a bad journey via the M25.

thanks for the help … I did get the car mapped on a rolling road yesterday but it was fine, problem just happened now

I took out a warranty with warranty wise a few days ago so hopefully it won’t work out too badly it’s just annoying as I was enjoying the car I was going to upgrade to Apple play anyway would you suggest just doing that or carrying out what you suggested first ?

Might sound silly but have you tried pressing the "on" button on the centre console? When I first got my car the screen wasn't working and I asked the dealer who pointed me to the on switch and hey presto!
