Hi,
Hope all are well. Need some help to (hopefully) fix a small problem if there is every such a thing with Mercs!

My car is a 2003 S211 E220 CDI Estate (similar to W211 I think).

A Beemer zoomed past my parked car yesterday from the opposite direction and clipped the passenger door mirror from the front. The mirror shut itself but when I had a closer look, the glass on the indicator has been shattered and the actual mirror plate inside is hanging out as well now (held by 2 thin wires).

Questions:
1. The replacement clear indicator part number showing online is A2038201321. But I've a puddle lamp too which does not show up on the picture of new part. Would I be able to simply plug/ solder mine in with the new one?

2. I am unable to clip the mirror back? Don't see any broken plastic clips, so does this need to be glued at the back with the motor?

3. Can I somehow take the body painted case/ cover off with the indicator and replace the indicator? I am hoping this is possible otherwise I would need to remove the motor and associated wires to reach the inner side of mirror cover/ indicator.

Your help is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance..

Have a good search. There have been a few instructional DIY posts and videos.

Do be aware that the facelift (2006 on) mirror (on a "plinth") is completely different from the pre-facelift ("integrated" into the door). If you can pop your VIN up (WDB211206...) I can look up the part number, probably.

Hi Tron, this is a 2003, so a pre facelift. I am attaching the pics.
VIN is WDB2112062A324764.
Isn't the part number A2038201321?

Yes, it is. Just checking against the VIN on EPC in case there are multiple versions, which the online sources sometimes fail to identify.

So any advice on:
1. How do I attach the mirror back?
2. Can the mirror cover (body color) with the indicator lens be opened on its own without removing the motor from front?

Hi, Removing the cover seems like an impossible task.
I've located the metal tab that holds the cover.
Its springy and I can depress it to the left side, but the cover does not even budge from its position.
Don't feel like using too much force pulling it out as it might break.
Any other tips please?

Finally got it out with help from a friend as I thought I would break it myself. Very stubborn. Really glad it did not break.
