I currently drive a 2014 C250 coupe. I love it, it was my first Mercedes. But, I'm thinking about buying a 2017/18 C300 Cabriolet. I really love the look of it. All black inside and out. I'm worried about the cloth top though. Has anyone owned a convertible Mercedes with a cloth top? How do they hold up? Is it worth buying? Or should I opt for the C300 Coupe instead? I live in central Texas and we have a lot of beautiful sunny weather. My partner and I have a 78 Jeep CJ5, a Jeep Grand Cherokee, and a classic Chevy between the two of us. We like our toys. Convertible would kind of round out the garage.

If you have the weather for it, I can't think of anything nicer than a convertable.
Unfortunately, I have no experience of owning one to advise how well they stand up to the elements.

Hi and Welcome,

I have had a 2011 E350 Diesel Cabriolet with 90,000 miles on clock and currently have a 2015 E400 Cab with 50,000 miles on clock.

I assume the C class will have similar mohair roof.

I have had no problems with the cloth roof and it is surprisingly quiet even at high speeds. My wife has a 2015 C220 so I do not use the Cab much in Winter.

I assume that winter is not a problem for you.

We are lucky in that we have a double garage so no worries about leaving car out overnight where vandals could have a go at the roof and more importantly the large oak tree we have cannot leave its sap and green mould on cloth roof which would be a pain to clean.

Personally I would not be without a Cab and cant wait to get some fresh air miles under my belt when lockdown is over.

I have driven the C300 coup whilst my car was in for a service and would consider a C300 cabriolet next time.

Regards
David
