Need Diesel Help !

Recently purchased my first diesel Merc... 250TD (202)....Which has done 81k. Last service, by previous owner (Merc) was done 2k ago. Should I expect it to need more oil, and what is left to be black....

Probably a stupid question, but have never had a diesel motor before....

Also, what is best oil for this engine ?

It shouldn't need more oil unless it was short filled, but if there isn't any obvious signs of where it's going, i.e. leaks or blue smoke, don't worry just fill it up.

The oil will be black, especially if it wasn't flushed at oil change time.

Use a diesel specific oil preferably fully synthetic. I like Millers because it's good, MB approved and isn't too expensive.

I change my oil and filter every 6000 miles on my C250td, its a cheap job and probably the most important one so i do it more often. takes me about half hour.
