W124 COUPE
My W124 went in for MOT y,day, passed with no advisories! :) but

I was advised that my acceleration peddle was heavy, like stiff, I noticed that when I bought her but I was advised by 124 owners that they are like that? Could some one clarify that for me.

Also when the car warms up I noticed that in reverse gear (automatic gearbox)the car sometimes cuts out like it run out of fuel, and when I'm stopping at junctions the car feels like it's hunting and wants to cut out unless I give it some revs?? Please help guys! My car 320 ce 1993..

They do have a fairly heavy throttle pedal as standard, you can try cleaning and lubricating the linkage under the inlet manifold.

Agreed, as those mini ball joints are a regular maintenance item.

Merc say to use squirts of gearbox fluid on them.

I had a similar problem on my 320 when I owned one. 2 things to look out for. There is a little solenoid(y) thing on the near side inner wing. This is connected to the vapor recovery canister housed behind the near side wing. You should feel it pulsing when you touch it and the engine is warm. If not pulsing it could be allowing air into the engine when it should not. The other course is more complicated. The Throttle body could need a clean, or worse still replacement. Also on the 320, when the engine shifts cam timing at 4000 rpm, there is a little trap door that opens in the manifold so the engine can breath easily, this can sometimes stick. When you have lubricated everything in sight, give the throttle body a clean. And yes the 320 has a heavy throttle pedal, I wonder why?????:thumb:
