Wasn’t actively looking as such but recently stumbled upon a car for sale that I liked the look of and picked it up at the weekend :)

Very niche model that certainly won’t appeal to most I am sure, but is absolutely perfect for its intended use - local trips in and around town, charging at home. Fully braced for the disapproval and ridicule of the collective here.. :D

Drove it back from Swindon, around a 70 mile trip - very smooth, comfortable, quiet, zippy and packed with tech for the type of car/model

Yes I had a bit of ‘range anxiety’ when I first collected it - wasn’t quite fully charged so took it easy mostly 60-70mph on the motorway but a couple of bursts here and there passing stuff and it’s more than capable - spec reckons 177bhp/251lbft torque, 0-62mph 7.9 which is fine for a town car. Supposed to be able to do 124 miles on a full charge, which seems as though 90 is more realistic. Winter time with cold weather and/or motorway speeds are not the optimum conditions for this sort of car. I was only getting 3ish miles per kWh, which isn’t great - I think at lower speeds/milder weather would be a little better than that.

When I was nearly home with 25/30 miles still showing on the range I was far more relaxed. I have other cars for longer journeys and wouldn’t pick this for trips such as that but I’m quite satisfied that it’s fine for a motorway trip of this sort of distance without needing to charge. Plenty of places I could have stopped if needed but it’s not a quick charging vehicle so doesn’t have the flexibility of a Tesla for example.

The car itself is 8 years old but is as new, inside and out. Not a hint of dirt anywhere and not even a fingerprint to be found. 2k miles from new, one owner, garaged its whole life.

Very well specced for this type of car with heated electric memory seats, ‘Sport Premium’ spec whatever that is with comfort suspension, reversing camera, nav, Apple CarPlay (cabled version I think - but it is a 2016 car I guess), driving assistance pack (blind spot assist, lane keeping etc). Very similar interior wise/switchgear to my GL so a familiar place to be and very easy to live with

Feel a bit guilty as it’ll be used all year round now and will never look as nice as this again (weather has been rubbish recently) but in my opinion was excellent value for money and with free road tax and charging at home (probably plug in a every couple of days - no hassle for me) I’m hopeful that it’ll serve its intended purpose well for a while - and maybe I’ll upgrade to something more exciting in a year or two.

Interestingly it was a joint venture between MB and Tesla - this has Tesla drive motor and batteries apparently. I did read up on this but I’m hopeful with just 2k miles it should be hassle free for a while, and I have a 3 year warranty on it too.

I looked at them for loan cars and a shopping car. They are incredible value. Make sure the warranty on the battery is good....
This has lost around 70% of its new price in 2k miles - I think it’s great value for money too as it’s essentially as new

Warranty covers battery, drive motor and most of the other EV stuff - charging port, DC-DC charger etc.

I’m hopeful that at 8 years old/2k miles any major gremlins would have surfaced by now, and have 3 years cover in case not 🙏

Looks like just the job to me (apart from the black interior, but that's just a personal thing.) It's just what I need to get for my wife who does lots of short trips taking our daughter back and forth to her plethora of after school activities.

For a daily driver black/anthracite leather or artico has to be the easiest to live with especially if you have kids :)

Light coloured interiors look nice when new or for a weekend car if that’s your thing but show dirt and scuffs more easily - I didn’t spec this but I’m pretty happy with the colour combo - may have to make use of the pre-entry climate though in summer! (black with black - ouch!) 🥵😎😅

I think they are Tesla batteries and motors in that too.
They are. There’s Tesla part numbers all over it under the bonnet.

I've always found that light coloured leather is easier to live with. I have three kids and often had to be the taxi service for them as well as their friends. The only things that show all the dirt in my current car are the black floor mats! Yes, there's the occasional black shoe scuff on the back of front seats, but it's quickly spotted an easily removed.

As I said though, it's a personal preference. A couple of months ago we were in the USA for 3 weeks and my choice of rental car from many different models when I went to pick it up was the one with a light grey interior, even though it was a Hyundai.

I've got a w246, its a 2014 B180 1.5d, manages 76mpg on a run around 60 everywhere else, 550miles from a full tank and at £35 a year to tax it's almost free motoring.

Great little cars, recently had mine mapped for abit more zoom

Very smart looking car ... well done!

At 8 years old the battery will have degraded a bit simply due to age (regardless of the low mileage), but I'm sure the range will still be perfectly adequate for its intended use and the 3 year warranty is great to have.

Proper switches on the dash and steering.

I’m sure you’re right in theory - the 12v lead acid battery has been replaced but the main battery I’m not too worried about. Understood regards ‘calendar aging’, but It’s done very few cycles, and MB are quite conservative with the figures anyway (rated at 28kWh capacity but it’s a 36kWh pack, no rapid charge etc). Seemed fine on the 70ish mile trip home showing a respectable range in line with what was expected so all seems as it should be.

I reckon the motor would be more likely to give issues on this model before the battery is of concern :) and I don’t intend on keeping it forever.

If there’s a major issue (hopefully not), I have a 3 year warranty which covers repair at Sytner (MB West London, which isn’t too far away)

It’s very familiar as most of it is the same as my 166 GL :)

Have to be honest, I prefer the tech/buttons in the newer models - eg 205 C-class era - steering wheel with the touch pads and cruise on the button rather than the stalk - but this is still very decent and high quality with a tactile feel to everything.

Certainly not a bad place to be and you get what you pay for of course - I’m sure a similar mileage/condition newer MB would be 2 or 3 times the cost of this one.

My daily driver is a 2016 B180d, so get in there… They are a nice shape.

Like many, didn’t actually know they did an EV, quite a cool choice.

Love to see it! :thumb:

Love it.

It may only do 0 - 60 in 7.8 seconds but I'd bet it ain't too far off the Daddy GL 0 - 30 😁
