Just had two new rear tyres Michelin Super Sport 4s fitted. They replaced Michelin Super Sports, as I have 4s on the front. The SS lasted 11,299 miles, interested to see how the 4s compare.

Just a heads up, as usual I checked around for the best prices against the usual suspects leaving till last my local which have always have the best price £230.00 ( 275/35/20 ) I then checked a company called Formula 1 Autocentres on line, which I had never heard of. £ 202.70 fully fitted they also offer what they call Precision Wheel Balancing which is specific to your car, which I had, extra £ 3.00 per wheel. Don't know if it will make any difference !! they seem to be Nation Wide.

Very impressed with there set up, clean, efficient and professional.

It’s worth a look at Costco for tyres Peter. Their fitting service is also very very good.

When they have their offers on (eg £50 off each pair in those sizes) they can be very competitive on price:

Tyres | Costco UK

Not sure if those are the same as what you have but seems like a decent price, could be worth looking at for next time

Black Circles.com are doing a 15 percent off Michelin clogs today. so you can get those tyres but BMW spec for around gbp 195 incl delivery per tyre or gbp 205 fitted , so the deal you got is very impressive!

I presume they are Pilot Sport 4S. I used F1 Autocentres for a set on another car. Great price at the time.

They do seem to have decent prices - cheers for mentioning them!

Looks like you might have to drive a bit to get to a fitting center, but probably worth it (in my case!)

Tell me about the Precision Wheel Balancing, I was under the impression they were either balanced or not balanced, how can it be specific to a car?

It’s possible to do something called road force balancing. It’s also possible to tell some machines to balance more accurately at the expense of using more weights. No idea whether they do either, I should add.

You can blance the wheel on the car, it is more accuare because it takes into account also the hub and disc assembly.

But the difference is very small so its is not usually worth the bother.

Also if you do that, make sure you mark the position of the wheel if you ever take it off, then make sure it goes back on the hub in the same position.
