Hi everyone.
I own a diesel s124 wagon with 650.000kms
I've done some serious work on it for the last 2 years, think I've had every single problem you could think of, this was a very tired car and it has come a long way ever since.
Recently I noticed something new..... I have some blowby, and this has really upset me as I have put some ridiculous man hours on this project so far.
Now I've read countless threads over different forums over this topic but I'm still confused.
I'll discribe my symptoms the best I can.
Upon start up with a cold engine i get blue smoke not massively but some, the injectors are new monarks.
With the engine cold if I open the oil filler cap the pressure rattles the cap, doesn't blow it across the yard but rattles. if i accelerate it creates vacuum instantaneously.
So far I had to replace all rubber bushings hoses etc as it was all pretty gone. I wonder before I assume the worst "rings" if this excess blowby could be caused by the valve stem seals? As they are made out of rubber too? This car had spent a great deal of time parked before I purchased it. Maybe that could help with their deterioration.
Any ideas or related experiences are welcome.
Many thanks
