Well, we bought our first ever Merc yesterday. A 1999 E 220 CDI Touring. Silver grey equipped with the usual trappings; good 'autobahn burner' for us both.

It was interesting to discover how much better a 220 CDI is as a passenger car engine over the 290 TDI. Much smoother and surprizingly quicker.

The big Merc will never win drag races and it joins other Germans who are much quicker than it is... but it's use will be different and we are pleased to have found such an inexpensive and well maintained one. Lots of kms but being a Merc, I beleive it has many more still tucked away somewhere.

Cheers

Welcome, lots of members, myself included, don't access the site much at weekends. I tend to access it mainly from work:rolleyes:

Welcome, a new member from mainland Europe is always a useful addition to the forum. :D What sort of vehicle was your 290 TDI in?

Welcome to the forum. As you've found out already, activity on the forum is low at the weekends. That doesn't mean we're not pleased to have you join us. :)

I was looking for an E type wagon with the 290 TD. Yesterday, I bought a 220 CDI powered E Touring instead. Taking delivery on Thursday.

Most people roam on work time?? Nice:p

Welcome, I have a 3 litre straight 6 diesel in my W210 estate, its done 115000 miles and touch wood all seems to be ok aside from the usual consumables.

Welcome to the forum, I hope you have fun deciding which mod to do first. Try the pedals, looks great for not a lot of money.

Hello & welcome. As others have said, there sometimes seems to be more activity during the week. I'd second the pedal mod by the way.

Portzy.

Welcome to the forum...:)
