Hi all,

New member here. Stuart from the Midlands.

New to Mercedes forums, but not car forums. Not meaning to swear, But I also have three MG's. I must be a glutton for punishment!

In the house we have two Mercedes, a GL420 and an E350d. Love both of these, fantastic bits of kit. The GL is getting on a bit now, but is a fantastic drive but sometimes decides it wants to damage your bank account. The E is a brilliant daily driver which is a mile muncher.

I'm pretty car savvy, however I do not profess to be an expert, especially with Mercedes. That said if I think I can help or have had a problem which has been rectified, I'll always contribute to the forum. Recently been trying to learn Xentry which is interesting.

I won't babble on,

All the best,

Stuart

Stuart. 2 nice Mercs you've got there. 👍
Out of curiosity, what's the MGs you got.
🙂
Many thanks for your reply, I had a C class first which started the Merc interest. Brilliant cars. So MG's I have a TF an F and a MK1 ZS. The TF is tuned, basically a Caterham level tune on it, which I did over the course of two to three years. It took the car from 135bhp to 208bhp. Which isn't a lot in the world of AMG but the car is less than a tonne and as such it does put a smile on your face. The F I brought my wife whilst showing the TF, can you believe for the sum of £300. This I'd say is a running and usable project. The ZS I'm looking to start this year which is a restoration.
So I'm ok with cars, but Mercs are new territory.
The GL had the infamous oil cooler leak, which was interesting to do as it was in the "V" under the inlet manifolds and injection system. Also changed the NTG 2 Command system and put the codes in for the rear camera, But this is as much as I've done on the Mercs. It currently has a battery drain issue which I'm working on but will post this on the electrical thread

Thanks again for you reply.

Welcome!
Have I here misread your OP? You are saying you are a newbie, but you have been since 2018

Many thanks for your reply. No you're correct, I added a profile back then but have never posted anything or got involved before as, to be honest, MGs have always been the hobby cars. But since then I actually started my own business back in 2019 and in 2021 ended up having a van, so my daily driver has now become a bit of a weekend family car if that makes sense. So with this in mind and making more of a conscious effort to get back into my hobbies as opposed to working every hour, I thought I'd start at looking to getting into the Mercs a little more. The GL needs some work to get it where I'd like it, and The E is great but always found forums a great place to pick up and share knowledge. All the best, many thanks once again.

Greetings Stuart and welcome to the group from me, Yes the old wallet gets a good workout every now and then but it is always forgiven once i get behind the wheel.

I remember when the MG TF was launched and i thought to myself 'That is a great little car', and every time i see one out and about ( which is less often as the years roll by ) i admire them. I was in the MX-5 camp myself at the time, but the TF .... it was a close call between the MX-5 and the TF.

Both of your MB's are great cars.

Many thanks for your reply. The nick name for the GL is "Boat" which affectionately stands for "Break Out Another Thousand" As for the MG's, fantastic car. Of course the build quality isn't quite there but what they achieved on a shoe string budget really was something very good. Love the MX5, obviously a Mazda which again are awesome build quality. I also own a Mazda Bongo, Japanese import which is a fantastic bit of kit. I have an understanding wife is all I'll say!

Hi stuart and welcome
