New Merc owner in need of advice/help

Hi All

Recently bought my first Merc, an 04 C180 Kompressor coupe, very pleased with it so far and working through a couple of issues. Have owned several classic minis which are considerably simpler to work on but not afraid to get my hands dirty and try. Firstly what is my car also known as, I keep seeing things like W202 etc.

Secondly I have a problem with the passenger door locking mechanism. When you unlock the car using the fob the passenger door lock jumps up and down and doesn't always lock first time. It's the same with the interior button and it won't always lock first time with the fob. I think it could be the central locking control unit. Am I right in thinking it works on air pressure? If so could it be a link in the air line? Is the unit behind the door card?

The central locking is electronic solenoid not pneumatic. Sounds like you have the classic "bouncing door lock". Can be fixed by replacing the lock spring (if you are handy at diy) or replace the complete lock.
