I have tracked down an OEM gearbox mount at 1/2 price RRP on eBay but noticed the date on the part is 2016… any issue buying old stock mounts? I suppose with things like tyres it’s not a good idea, but not sure about these mounts?

With tyres it's obviously the safety aspect (you don't know where they have been stored for the last XX years) and they degrade under UV , I guess if the mount has spent the last 16 years in a box in dry (ish) conditions it might be worth a go ?

But having said that the last (Lemforder) MB gearbox mount I bought brand new didn't exactly break the bank ££ . It's a relatively easy part to swap out so if you think it's worth the saving/risk give it a go .

Gearbox mount has rubber, rubber dries if not kept protected.

It’s 2016 so only 7 years not 16.

The price is £50 as opposed to £110 and available immediately rather than a 2 week wait.

I managed to get 2 engine mounts and a gearbox mount for the E class for £100 from Autodoc last year . All Lemforder parts . The engine mounts had MB part numbers on them as well .

Autodoc is really good

Just ended up buying them from MB in the end - very reasonable prices nowadays.

Well, that's a change. My engine mounts from MB are 300€ each. Hutchinson ones from AutoDoc are about 80€.

Happily, I don't need any!
