Car
AMG GT C
Having just bought a an AMG GTC this is my first Merc car ever. Previously I have owned a BMW 635, Audi RS3, VW Sirocco R, Lotus Emira V6, Ford Escort turbo, 2 Ford capris, Peugeot 205 GTi, Peugeot 406 Coupe, Audi Coupe GT, Mazda RX7, Fiat X19, Toyota Supra and several forgettable heaps of junk.

So far I have had it fully serviced, full valet, new Pilot Spot Cup 2 tyres and today it was polished and ceramic coated.

A year ago I looked for an AMG GT or GTS and after driving a Porsche GT4, Jag F Type V8 and a V6 supercharged Lotus Emira, it was the Emira that I ended up buying. 11 months later and countless issues, breakdowns and months in the dealership I decided to call it a day. I decide to go back to German cars after the last 9 years with the RS3 and Sirocco R were problem free. I think some things were meant to be because I never thought I would find a 1 owner car that had lived in a heated garage with such low mileage.

I knew nothing about the differences between the models and thought C meant cabriolet. After having collected it I was very happy to find out the C has 557hp, with dry sump, rear wheel steering, GTR gearing, uprated cooling with charge coolers, wider arches and wheels. When I fitted the new Cup 2 tyres I thought the rears with 305s looked stretched and after checking around found the GTR has 325s on the rear on the same 12 inch wide rims. It now has the 325 rears and 275 fronts which should help get the power down on dry hot summer days.

Looking forward to being active on the forum and asking lots of questions.

I totally agree Tony and will post some soon. They weather has been pretty miserable over the last 3 weeks but I will post some.

Agreed. If your gonna show ya car off.
It's gotta be clean! 🙂👍

The GT C also shares the turbochargers with the GT R. has active rear steering, and active underbody aerodynamics amongst other things.

At launch Mercedes didn’t intend to release the GT R Roadster. The GT C was the original sister car to the GT R, but slow sales led to a rethink.

Does your car have the AMG Dynamic Plus package (code P71) - if you’re not sure, look out for the yellow markers around the speedometer.

It adad dynamic engine and transmission mounts, firmer suspension, and is a great addition. Most cars with it left the factory with Pilot Sport Cup 2.

On that note, if you’re not used to Cup 2, take care to warm the tyres up progressively as you’ll have very little grip otherwise, lethal this time of year.

Otherworldly grip when in their operating window but completely unsuitable for road use. They can also be damaged when used in cold weather.

Welcome to the forum, esp with such a lovely car, congrats.
It would great if you could make an appearance at the annual BOTG (Benz On The Green) event on 10th May at the George Inn, Finchdean. Use the forum search facility to find out more details etc and how to register. A lot of the attendees meet at PCS (forum and event sponsor) in Horndean in the morning and then move onto the main event about lunchtime. It's a great way to put faces to names, admire all the cars, have a beer, a spot of lunch and generally put the world right all in a day!

Kind regards Matt

I’ll have a look for the yellow markers and yes it does have the active mounts.
The owner opted for PSSS tyres and due to being 6 years old I’ve just changed to Cups with 275 fronts and 325 rears. Totally get you on these tyres because the Emira before this had them and my RS3 before that exclusively for 6 years since new.

Well the weather is still pants but here’s a picture of it covered it rain but after it’s ceramic coating that was done on Saturday. Great camera skills cutting off the ends while rushing.😂

Thanks for all the replies. Strangely I never thought I would own a Merc because in 2015 I bought one of the last ever new edition 507s which broke down through electrical faults and was in the garage for nearly 5 months before I got a complete refund. I understand you can get a rogue but at least I had VWs and Audis since then which gave me faith in German engineering (hopefully not miss placed).

I see my last picture looked rubbish. I added it from my phone from a picture I saved from Autotrader when I was looking at buying it. At least it wasn't rejected for being too large a file. 🤣

Congratulations on the car and more importantly welcome to the forum. Keep the pics and thoughts on the car coming. When you get to have that roof down, i wonder how that beast will sound! Bet it will be probably be on another level entirely. Let us know how the drive etc compares to the other cars you've owned / driven. All insights would be valued ! What a beast of a car , with that super long bonnet, they're so good looking

Congrats on the car and welcome ! It's a lovely looking one indeed !
