Hi, i need all new suspension springs on my 2004 C200 W203 kompressor Avantgarde SE , I keep getting asked , is it sports suspension? i haven't got a scuby doo, cannot find out and Mercedes won't help, or do i just get all 4 springs as advertised ? Help.

Can you see any colour markings on the springs that are on the car ? They are not always 100% reliable because a previous owner might have put the incorrect springs on in te past.

VIN number and a email/phone call to MB is a good place to start.

Post your VIN on here for more detail.

Replacement springs can be a bit of a minefield because of all of the different specs during the production run of the car estate/tow pack/sport/avantgarde/AMG etc

Even the rubber pads the rear springs sit in come in 4 different thicknesses and the VIN won't help you with those , you have to get up in there and hope you can still see the number on them . They are dirt cheap from MB .

Don't forget the shims for the bottom of the rear springs .

I just bought the whole lot for my S203 AMG , already replaced the rears , front struts and genuine AMG springs (£110+ each) along with new top strut bearings going on next.

Many thanks Pete, no paint marks on the rusty springs, my vin is -WDC2030422R112332 If this can help. I saw a thread on another site and the front strut measurment from the base of the shocker (where the piston protudes) to the bottom of the thread is 120mm, or if stripped down 200mm from the base to the top of the piston, obviously mine is still on the car and measures 140mm so i am thinking that its not sport suspension?
