Hi all, new to the site having sold an escort Cosworth and wanting a C63 next, looking to buy face lift car the question is, is it worth buying a PPP car or should i buy a non PPP and get De-catted and map........... Any info from hardened C63 owners much appreciated. I have my eye on a car which has PPP, Diff etc but is 4000 more then other cars with same mileage is it worth that much more.

Welcome, I had a pre-facelift PP model & although preferable, to have these upgrades, it's not imperative IMO. You can always retrofit a LSD etc. to less spec'd car.

Hi & welcome. A nice predicament to be in ;) Guess you would have to add up the price of the individual parts and see if they come to £4k or less!

Forgot to say, they are plenty of C63 owners on here, so am sure someone will be along shortly to give you the pros and cons of ownership!

PPP involves extra cost in Front disc replacement and LSD can be retrofitted, either Quaife or Wavetrac.

Even with PPP cars, you will end up mapping anyways, but the gains will not be as much as standard C63.

The £4000 difference basically will cover map, LSD and possibly headers if all done at once. ;)

Also engine internals are stronger on the PPP, forged Pistons etc

Ppp car always worth more than a modified car... diff essential and not standard on ppp facelift so worth having. Ppp revs easier with modified internals. You will also see most of the 4k difference back on resale.

Cheers for the info lads, Abb you can help me find one, since you sit 4 feet away from me at graft, got my short list of 3 possibly 4 just waiting to get back to UK so I can go for a look test drive etc

One of the main factors in me going for a PPP, yes the standard engine is probably more than capable of doing 100k miles etc with 500bhp but its something that drew me towards the the PPP, maybe I'm just a spec chaser.

You do pay a bit more for the PPP but you'll also be able to ask for a bit more when you sell so you're not exactly losing that extra money. Kind of like the opposite of buying a cat d, cheaper to buy but you have to sell it a bit cheaper when you move on.

I suppose the smart move would be to buy a clean low mileage c63 in the colour you like then spend 2k on a remap, Quaife and if you have any change some Michelin PSS rear tyres.

Whatever you buy, you won't regret it!

The PPP cars have forged lighter internals with reduced inertia

"The 6.2-litre V8 is unchanged at 457bhp, but you can now option the AMG Performance pack which ups power to 487bhp, thanks to important oily bits courtesy of the Very Slidey SLS. The forged pistons, connecting rods and lightweight crankshaft - all lifted from the SLS’s V8 - are 3kg lighter than standard and so reduce inertia. In layman’s terms, you can now scare dogs and small children at the traffic lights as the V8 revs faster"

Yeah i know mate, that's why i quoted "Benzedup", the internals were the main reason i went for a PPP rather than red caliper and carbon extras.
