Hi all,

Sorry if this is the wrong forum, wasn't sure where it lived!

I've recently picked up a new (to me) car that has the "P60 - Night Package Exterior" but I'm pretty sure someone has tinted over the top. It's kind of hard to find details though. As such I'm hoping some around here can shed some light on two questions:

1 - Has this been tinted?
2 - Is the standard "Night Pack" tint also a film or part of the glass? (I.e if I get all the film removed, will I still have some baked in tint or back to 100% transparent?).

(please excuse the rust and general filthyness)

Thanks!

Cal

I would say they have been tinted - and by the looks of it are now illegal. Front windows need to transmit a minimum 70% light. Compare it to the Juke behind for some idea.
Welcome BTW - cool car

Looks cool, but sadly illegal and will no doubt attract unwanted attention from the fuzz (Speaking from personal experience).
As said above, the max tint on the side windows will already be in the glass from factory.
The rear screen and sides on my C43 are factory limo tinted and it definitely seems to be “in” the glass and not a film. Hopefully someone can confirm that for sure.

Yep, from the factory the glass itself has the tint - it's not a separately applied film.

Don't think the night package had anything to do with the windows anyway, pretty sure it was black window surrounds etc rather than chrome.

Thanks for the replies all, I think I'll get the door tints taken off ASAP as that won't impact too much.

The rear I'm worried about due to the screen heater - any experience or is it really a case of roll the dice and see if it peels off?

From googling the P60 pack had: -Rear windows with privacy glass -Triangular side windows with privacy glass (Coupés only)

I bet you’ll find the rear and sides are just the factory tint. The factory tints are very dark (i just snapped this pic of mine out the window).
The previous owner probably just had the door windows done to match.
If you remove the film, heat it with a hairdryer as you go along to help release the glue. Any residue can be removed with a decent tar/glue remover.IMG_1311.jpeg

Wow that is dark!

Maybe I'll accept that at night I can't identify anything behind me. At least using my wing mirrors will be a perk!

Even though it seems really dark, your side and rear window glass will be factory tint rather than film: here's mine (sorry for the BMW badge!)

We used to call that "Ugly Kid Glass" in the trade!!

Haha! Love this! Im always glad that other drivers cant see my kids randomly waving at them. Doesn’t matter how many times i tell them to stop being weird, they still do it!

Could be worse than waving.....they could be ginger!!!

The bloke at the shop confirmed the rear glass is OEM, no tint film.. The front is certainly a lot more legal now, and easier to see out of at night (that is a flattering photo, it doesn't look as good but so be it).

Definitely not factory
