I have given up trying to stop my kids asking for a Nintendo Wii, after a continual bombardment from all four of them (Even the two year old:rolleyes: )

So, to ensure Wii (:D ) can all play together I think the Nintendo would be better than the XBox and PS2, but the question is where to get one before Christmas??

Any "insiders" of the retail industry out there Wiilling to help me out, Wiithout resorting to paying over the ods on eBay?? Our local Asda had 15 for sale from last night, with a queue of over 20 by 7.00pm!!

I promise it will not go onto eBay!:D

Merry Christmas!:D

www.wiipreorder.co.uk has a list of retailers preordering (and now those who have it in stock). Stay as far away from GameStation as you can, I preordered at the beginning of november in a GameStation in the high street, popped in today (nice bright and early) and was told that they didn't receive enough stock, and that they only got 30 cosoles in!

How can they take pre-orders and then not get them in on time?!

Join the club! I have a few G&W too, but I'm missing the Panasonic Cube (a Japanese special edition of the GameCube that plays DVD's too) and the VirtuaBoy (a 3D console with eye-bleeding red screens 3" away from your eyes).

On a related note, I've been trying to get into contact with GameStation, and all I'm getting is "sorry, you aren't getting your console for another week - the person in store who told you you would get it by the 8th must have been a Christmas intern who did not know what he was saying"

Dont even get me started on this...

I reserved mine back in september... 21st to be exact.

Sendit.com told me that despite my order being placed so early, they were unable to fulfill.. as of 07/12 they had no delieveries  and cannot even guarantee delivery until next year.

Hopping mad I was.

Order: 32906** (21st Sep 2006)
Payment method -
Nintendo Wii Console (Nintendo Wii) £179.89
do you want to giftwrap this item?

Absoloute joke - email sent to customer services advising them that they should have told people that if they are unable to deliver, they should not take money.

My friend ordered one from game at the begining of november... hes playing zelda as we speak..........

I did go into Game on friday an dput my name on thier list which had around 70 or so names on, chances are they should get a large delivery again before christmas and have been looking daily on amazon for updates.

Bah!

As soon as I have one, (few months) I will play you online!

Daily is nowhere near enough :p On the 8th of December, Amazon had a fresh batch of consoles for sale. The links were made active at 15:00 British time. By 15:02, they were all sold out... (they had advertised beforehand that there would be consoles available at 15:00 - the news spread like wildfire on Wii forums!)

If I were you, I would register my interest with HMV, they still seem to be able to get something before xmas... I'm sticking with GameStation (unfortunately) as I put a 20 pound deposit with them... They do guarantee before xmas, but I have a queer feeling about that disclaimer that they made me sign... (that and the fact that I am not on great terms with the staff at my local shop as I asked them for the head office phone number as I intended to complain about them... before emailing the ASA.... )

Not a happy gamer, monday I'm going to have a chat with one of the parents at my workplace, I've heard rumours he works for nintendo (and hopefully can get me something a little... sooner ;))

I understand from some colleagues that Virgin Megastores in London may have some... of course it'd be worth calling before trekking down there!

So today I got the magical call... I've spent all afternoon glued to the t.v. (note, its 3am - work starts at 8:30 :p). One word; amazing.

I started with Wii sports, which is soft of fun alone (more novelty value than anything else). Then tried some Wii Play (couldn't figure it out, decided i preferred the old nes Zapper to shoot ducks:P). After which a friend came over, and we discovered just how much fun Wii Sports is as soon as you have a second player.

After several close calls, we ended up in a fist fight pretty much (tennis is earily enthusiamatic), so we swapped to Zelda: Twiglight Princess. He left after a while, and I've been playing till now. Impressions?
The game is interesting, but doesn't seem as good as Ocarina of Time. That said, I don't think I've very far (collected a "keychain" with teardrops or something like that :p). One MAJOR bonus is the controls, which are just so... intuitive. First time I played ANY zelda without needing to open the manual for reference!

All in all, an amazing console as long as you dont have work to do...;)

i placed a separate order for two consoles, initially planning to sell the other one off ebay but changed my mind and cancel one of the orders.

just rang toy r us in sheffield and they will have a delivery tomorrow but dont know how many, but its first come first serve at 8am tomorrow, your local one might do the same

Its another sleepless night, I can't help it! Second "keychain" filled with teardrops and now I'm helping out some gorons (ah, the memories;))

Pics... hmmm.... :p I'll take some as soon as I have a few free mins to look for my camera :p

STILL haven't figured out how to play Wii Play, and had a friend over today (a big-shot at MicroSoft). After some advertising speech on my behalf, he decided to give the Wii a try. He was really impressed (and they have 360's in their caffeteria :p)

As for the strap, its common sense really. The strap is there are an "emergency" measure, (like you would put a chain on a theater light). You don't use it to swing the remote around like a lunatic. People do have prensile thumbs, USE THEM :p I've been playing zelda and WiiSports (tennis mostly) without fastening the strap; Haven't had ANY remotes flying about ;)

I just cant wait to get the projector... A Wii on a 250-inch screen <drools>
